HURRICANE IRENE - NYC Department of Transportation UPDATED (2:34 p.m.)

Just received the following email from NYC Department of Transportation:
“Updates on Hurricane Irene
 Friday, August 26, 2011
For updates on Hurricane Irene in NYC, please visit the NYC Severe Weather website.
If nyc.gov is temporarily unavailable due to heavy site traffic, you may also visit the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) on Facebook, or follow OEM on Twitter.

In addition, New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, has ordered the shutdown of New York State’s transit system at 12 noon Saturday.  Cuomo is deploying the National Guard to areas expected to be hit the hardest by Hurricane Irene.   The shutdown includes buses, subways, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and Access-A-Ride.
