AP Twitter account hacked allegedly by Syrian Electronic Army; DOW plummets after erroneous tweet of 'explosions at White House'.






“A hacker compromised the main Twitter account for the Associated Press on Tuesday, creating momentary chaos across the world by inaccurately posting that US President Barack Obama was injured by an explosion in the White House.
Just after 1 p.m. EST, a message sent by the account @AP read ‘Breaking: Two Explosions in the White House and Barack Obama is injured.’
Journalists inside the White House at the time of the tweet quickly refuted the claim and reported that no blast had been felt at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The AP announced from a separate account moments later that the initial tweet was not true and that hackers wrote and published the incorrect claim…”
The SyrianElectronicArmy hacked CBS 60 Minutes and is taking responsibility  for the hacking of the Associated Press Twitter page.

Following the erroneous tweet, the Dow dropped 145 points between 1:08 p.m. EDT and 1:10 p.m. but it soon recovered.

Markets quickly swung back after the Associated Press said on its corporate website that its account had been hacked. The White House confirmed that there had been no incident….”
How odd is it that the hackings have occurred within days of Congress passing CISPA 288-127.
