#BENGHAZI: 43-Page Report Reveals Senior Officials in Obama Admin Scrubbed Talking Points to Mislead the Nation

Less than six days before the September 11, 2012 riots in Cairo, Egypt and the assault on the U. S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya that resulted in the deaths of four Americans, i.e., Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, Democrat after Democrat including Barack Hussein Obama took the stage at the 2012 Democratic National Convention and declared to the world that Al Qaeda has been decimated or was at least on its way to being so.

On September 11, 2012, the U.S. embassy and safe house in Benghazi was attacked.  From the moment senior officials in the Obama administration and intelligence became aware that an attack was taking place instead of working to extract Americans from harm’s way, the Obama administration from Obama down immediately began to put into play a cover up which has continued ever since.
“Analysis At the Time of the Attack
The U.S. government knew immediately that the attacks constituted an act of terror.  In an ‘Ops Alert’ issued shortly after the attack began, the State Department Operations Center  notified senior Department officials, the White House Situation Room, and others, that the Benghazi compound was under attack and that ‘approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well.’[43] Two hours later, the Operations Center issued an alert that al-Qa’ida linked Ansar al-Sharia (AAS) claimed responsibility for the attack and had called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli.[44]   Neither alert mentioned that there had been a protest at the location of the attacks.[45]   Further, Administration documents provided to the Committees show that there was ample evidence that the attack was planned and intentional. The coordinated, complex, and deadly attack on the Annex – that included sophisticated weapons – is perhaps the strongest evidence that the attacks were not spontaneous. The question of why a deliberately misleading and incomplete narrative to the contrary was initially perpetuated by the administration despite the existence of this information has not yet been fully answered and must be addressed as oversight efforts continue….” (page 21, Republican House Oversight Committee Interim Report)
In just a matter of days post the Benghazi attacks in Libya, the truth including Al Qaeda’s role in the attacks was scrubbed from the talking points.
“Even as the White House strove last week to move beyond questions about the Benghazi attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2012, fresh evidence emerged that senior Obama administration officials knowingly misled the country about what had happened in the days following the assaults. The Weekly Standard has obtained a timeline briefed by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence detailing the heavy substantive revisions made to the CIA’s talking points, just six weeks before the 2012 presidential election, and additional information about why the changes were made and by whom.
As intelligence officials pieced together the puzzle of events unfolding in Libya, they concluded even before the assaults had ended that al Qaeda-linked terrorists were involved. Senior administration officials, however, sought to obscure the emerging picture and downplay the significance of attacks that killed a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. The frantic process that produced the changes to the talking points took place over a 24-hour period just one day before Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, made her now-famous appearances on the Sunday television talk shows. The discussions involved senior officials from the State Department, the National Security Council, the CIA, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the White House…..”
U.N.  Ambassador Susan Rice representing the Obama administration went on television with lies in tow.  Rice repeated the lies talking points propaganda put into play by the Obama administration, not once but in  five different appearances that Sunday.

Nearly eight months later, the cover up continues and the questions remain too many to count.

For example, why would the Obama administration hire an Al-Qaeda-linked group to defend the Benghazi U. S. mission?  H/t Grumpy Opinions.

“…That organization, the February 17th Martyrs Brigade, was paid by the U.S. government to provide security at the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. But there is no indication the Martyrs Brigade fulfilled its commitment to defend the mission on Sept. 11, when it came under attack.

Several entries on the militia’s Facebook page openly profess sympathy for Ansar al-Sharia, the hardline Islamist extremist group widely blamed  for the deadly attack on the mission.…
…On April 23, House Republicans released an interim progress report on their investigation into the Benghazi killings. It cited ‘numerous reports’ that ‘the Brigade had extremist connections, and it had been implicated in the kidnapping of American citizens as well as in the threats against U.S. military assets.’
The report also stated that just a few days before Stevens arrived in Benghazi, the Martyrs Brigade informed State Department officials they no longer would provide security as members of the mission, including Stevens, traveled through the city….”
Yesterday, Congressman Stephen Lynch (D) appeared on Fox News Sunday and admitted that “Susan Rice used ‘scrubbed’ talking points on Benghazi to deliver ‘false information’ to the American people:”

In addition, representatives Lynch and Jason Chaffetz engaged in a high-spirited discussion a propos the intimidation of Benghazi witnesses by the State Department.

(05:08) Lynch:  “They’re complaining about a lack of security at the embassies after they voted against funding for security at the embassy…”
Progressives have no credibility in this discussion.
“… it remains unclear why the State Department chose to reduce security in the face of such a challenging security environment and chose to deny multiple requests from Embassy Tripoli for more assistance. It is clear that funding – or a lack thereof – is not the reason for the reductions in security, as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security Lamb testified and as emails reviewed by the Committees attest.[26]
Moreover, a lack of funding would not have been at issue with respect to the rejection of the request to extend the deployment of the SST, as that team was provided via the Defense Department at no expense to the State Department. The Administration owes the American people an explanation regarding these unanswered questions, which must be explored in greater depth in the weeks and months ahead….”
In the meantime, the Obama administration up to their necks in the cover-up remains as smug as ever from Hillary Clinton’s “What difference does it make?”
to Jay Carney’s “Benghazi happened a long time ago.”  Keep digging that hole.
It certainly appears that the Benghazi can of worms may have just gone pop.  Even worse, there is no bottom to the can.
The names of the whistleblowers scheduled to appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday have finally been revealed.  All three are career State Department officials  and as reported by the Oversight Committee their names are:
·      Mr. Mark Thompson
Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism
US Department of State
·      Mr. Gregory Hicks
Foreign Service Officer and former Deputy Chief of Mission/Chargé d’Affairs in Libya
US Department of State
·      Mr. Eric Nordstrom
Diplomatic Security Officer and former Regional Security Officer in Libya
US Department of State

Names Of ‘Whistleblower’ Witnesses On Libya Raid Revealed

“…Nordstrom previously testified before the oversight committee, which is chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., in October 2012. At that time, Nordstrom made headlines by detailing for lawmakers the series of requests that he, Ambassador Stevens, and others made for enhanced security at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, most of which were rejected by State Department superiors….
… Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican and committee member, said Hicks was in Tripoli at 9:40 p.m. local time when he received one of Stevens’ earliest phone calls amid the crisis.
‘We’re under attack! We’re under attack!’ the ambassador reportedly shouted into his cell phone at Hicks.
Chaffetz, who subsequently debriefed Hicks, also said the deputy ‘immediately called into Washington to trigger all the mechanisms’ for an inter-agency response….”

Everyone on the ground in Libya did their jobs but senior White House officials turned their backs on these men and let them die.  I believe that now is the time to (a) begin impeach proceedings and (b) throw some folks in jail.

Like I said, that can of worms has no bottom.
