Glenn Beck’s charity to help the family of molested student rebuild – literally

EAG News
ROSE CITY, Mich. – John Janczewski, the parent of a student molested by the now-imprisoned former middle school teacher Neal Erickson, appeared on Glenn Beck’s national radio program Monday to discuss the case.
EAGnews has reported on the threats endured by the family since the truth about his son’s molestation came to light, and the suspicious fire that was set in their garage by unidentified culprits.
We also detailed the shocking letters seven teachers wrote on behalf of Erickson, seeking for leniency at his sentencing.
Since the interview, the school board voted to retain six current teachers involved in the controversy. The seventh is retired. You can read a related story today at EAGnews.org and in the emailed publication EAGnews Radar.
Mercury One, the charity affiliated with Beck, has agreed to provide the necessary funds to allow the Janczewskis to begin rebuilding their garage.

‘I just don’t think I have seen a family kicked in the teeth as much as your family has been kicked in the teeth,’ Beck told Janczewski.
‘You’re not asking for lawsuits, money, you’re not asking for anything. You just want to make sure — I mean, they didn’t catch it the first time. They didn’t catch it with your son. And how they can say it only happen this one time? How do you know? Did they know this was what happened?’ Beck said.

Below is an excerpt of how some in this school district is trying to justify the actions of middle school teacher/child rapist, Neal Erickson.

Detroit News
…Some residents in the town of 650 about 70 miles north of Saginaw wonder whether the outsized reaction by the conservative community is fueled by the fact the student Erickson had sex with is male….
…Brandon Larkin, who graduated from Ogemaw Heights High School in 2001, said past relationships between teachers and students never drew this type of response.
‘But this was a homosexual relationship, so that’s worse, right?’ he said. ‘If that’s not slanted justice bordering on bigotry, I’m not sure what is….
… Amy Eagan, who teaches history and psychology at Ogemaw Heights High School, wrote…
… ‘You would have a hard time finding a student who attended the Rose City schools that does not adore and respect Neal…’
Eagan’s husband and school board member Mike Egan sat side by side with the predator’s family in court to show his support.  His explanation, “I would still support the family. That’s who I am.”

Even more disturbing is that the church down the road from the Janczewski’s paid Erickson’s bail.

On a final note, there are many who despise Glenn Beck.  In fact, there are moments when I find myself at odds with the man as well but while the man is not perfect (who among us are?), Beck deserves credit where credit is due.

UPDATE:  As of this morning, “Recall language has again been filed against West Branch-Rose City school board member Mike Eagan, alleging he is violating WB-RC bylaws.”
Date, place and time of the hearing is:  10 am, Tuesday, August 27th,  Commissioners Chambers in the Ogemaw County Building.
