Appearing on PBS’s Inside Washington, Bloomberg News’s Margaret Carlson actually said Friday that “We’ve gone from Martin Luther King to the Reverend Al Sharpton, and as a leader, as he is trying to be this weekend, it’s very dispiriting.”
Coming from Carlson, I’ll certainly take ‘dispiriting,’ but feel the need to up the ante with a ‘disappointing,’ a ‘disgraceful,’ and a ‘disturbing....’Read full article
Noel Sheppard, author of the above post has it about right. Sharpton, of whom, I have long stopped referring to as “reverend” is one of many whom are unfit to invoke the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., let alone attempt to walk in his shoes.
Dr. King's legacy, although co-opted by Progressives is not theirs to claim and since his family has placed a dollar value on their father’s legacy, they too are deemed unworthy.
They have opted out of the truth and everything that King stood for Progressive Revisionist History thereby doing their parents’ memory and legacy a disservice.
In furtherance, I am calling out the fact that all who today claim ownership to King, invoking his legacy for their agenda, one in which King would not have approved.
These people today are the likes of Kings enemies 50 plus years ago before he was assassinated.
King’s enemies were atheists, unions, Democrats, police state, etc. The goal of those in power was to take King down because he took out of their comfort zones which are why King had so many enemies.
Moreover, many of whom showed their open disdain for King were those self-anointed Black leaders in the Black community. They made no effort to hide their disdain for the man and publicly spoke against him at every opportunity.
Of course, their disdain for Dr. King was only privy to those living within the Black community. We never mentioned the names of those haters aloud but we recognized them by the language they used and the names they called Mr. and Mrs. King.
Unbelievably, you will recognize those names because the likes of those who declared war on Dr. King half-century plus ago are the same sort levying assaults against Christians, Conservatives, Libertarians, and Constitutionalists today. They are ONE AND THE SAME.
Just a few of labels hurled at the Kings were “Uncle Tom”, “Miss Anne”, “traitors”, "house niggers", "house slaves", “un-american”, “enemy of the state” and “sell-out”.
The names above are just a handful of names used against Dr. and Mr.s King and their supporters. Other names not mentioned herein can be still found in today’s DHS Lexicon.
How ironic is it that while those were the epithets hurled by Democrats at their enemies in the 60’s that some decades later have co-opted the legacy of King for an agenda King would have never agreed to and are now hurling the same epithets at Conservatives, Constitutionalist, Libertarians, Independents, Christians, etc.
